Abstract

The local culinary potential in Mojokerto Regency has a close relationship with the cultural heritage and history of Majapahit, but its utilization as part of cultural tourism and creative economy development still needs to be strengthened. This research identifies the local culinary potential of Mojokerto and develops an integrative model that connects culinary, cultural heritage, tourism experience, and destination competitiveness. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving culinary MSME actors, local government, cultural communities, tourism destination managers, and tourists in Mojokerto Regency. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The research results show that Mojokerto has strong local culinary potential, supported by the richness of Majapahit’s culture and history. Based on informants’ perspectives, six main themes are seen as playing a role in supporting local culinary development, namely product and process renewal, packaging innovation, digital marketing, cultural storytelling, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The novelty of this research lies in the integrative model that positions local culinary potential as the foundation for development, then connects it with the strengthening of tourism experience, destination image and competitiveness, and the growth of the regional creative economy. This model shows that the integration of local culinary, cultural heritage, tourism experience, and digital marketing can become a strategic approach to strengthen the competitiveness of cultural tourism destinations sustainably.
